Fun Facts about Cecile and Morris

  • Cecile loves to sing and was a founding member of a Caribbean folk group named The Caribbes
  • Cecile is an avid bowler and still participates in league bowling
  • Cecile and Morris have a son who is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, Communication Squadron Reserved
  • Cecile and Morris enjoy helping travellers and their families navigate the services provided at the airport
  • Morris played cricket and loves to watch English football (soccer)

Tanya Volunteer

Fun Facts about Tanya

  • Being Ukrainian, Tanya is bilingual in Ukrainian and English and is proud of the fact that Alberta has one of the largest settlements of Ukrainian people
  • Tanya is a model and has taken part in various fashion shows and beauty pageants, such as modelling in the Western Canada Fashion Week and representing Northern Alberta in Mrs. Canada Globe. Tanya enjoys meeting photographers and make-up artists and building her portfolio
  • Tanya says that as planes take off it reminds her of reaching her goals and would like to remind people all over the world to never give up and always work towards their own goals

Daniel

Fun Facts about Daniel

  • Daniel is actively involved in para-sport and sit skis and plays sledge hockey (a.k.a. para ice hockey) during the fall and winter months
  • Daniel’s nickname is Dangerous Dan
  • Dan’s favorite part of volunteering at EIA is meeting people that he already knows when they travel through the airport

Diana

Fun facts about Diana

  • Diana has a very multi-cultural family.  She is from Australia, and in her immediate family she has members from Germany, Turkey and the United States
  • Diana has been a literacy tutor with adult students for 20 years
  • At 80 years young, Diana still goes to aerobics three times a week at the 55+ class at MacEwan

Mary and Paul

Fun Facts about Mary and Paul

  • Mary loves the atmosphere at the airport and feels it’s a privilege to be the first person a traveller often talks to about our province
  • Mary once had to tell a limo driver for astronaut Chris Hadfield who he is and was asked by the chauffeur to stand by his side when Mr. Hadfield arrived because the driver was so nervous
  • Paul once played the accordion in the departures area and had a young passenger join him to sing several songs
  • Paul feels like the airport takes on a life of its own and enjoys seeing first time visitors surprised by the number of services offered here
